Skaneateles, NY Engagement | Janelle + Peter

They both graduated high school and were taking their next step in life, college. Moving into the dorms they were immediately acquainted since they were neighbors. Janelle + Peter quickly became friends along with many others on their floor. A friendship that went on for a year began to become something more their Sophmore year. Almost 4.5 years since that first day of college, an Empire State Building proposal, Janelle + Peter will say their vows in August!

In an effort to beat the rain we started their engagement session earlier at Beak and Skiff in Skaneateles, NY then we headed to Lourdes Camp for a picnic. They rain came quick but we had fun playing in it!! 🙂 I LOVE this! Going into their session I kept remembering our initial meeting. From the second I approached the door they were full of laughter and smiles and this photo, to me, represents their personalities together. This was not a light rain session, it was down pouring. But I am a sucker for rain photos and they made the best of every moment together! and rain makes moments so romantic! 🙂

Mexico, NY Engagement | Brian + Christine

Her workday started like any other at a local convenient store, until he walked in. There was an immediate attraction between them two. Both of them would periodically pop into each other’s work, pretending to shop, but really being there to see one another. After seeing each other a few times Brian asked her out! A few years later Brian reenacted their first date and surprised Christine with a proposal!

We spent the evening at Mexico Point Park for their amazing engagement session. Their happiness, love, and personalities shined!

The storms were rolling in on the drive to Mexico, NY was pouring rain. As they arrived the rain let up for 20 minutes then this magical moment happened…

Anyela’s Vineyard + Skaneateles Lake Engagement | Justin + Shelby

Her Mother was a patient of his for a year and knowing how great a guy he was and that they would hit it off she gave Justin Shelby’s phone number on a visit Shelby was at with her. A few weeks later in January 2013 they went on their first date and they have been together ever since. Justin proposed to Shelby at Anyelas Vineyard so we grabbed some wine and started the session there and like the day they got engaged, it was a rainy gloomy day, but nothing about the session was gloomy! So many smiles, so much laughter, and all around FUN! We ended in Skaneateles where they jumped into the lake as a “taking the plunge” theme! They are both football fans so they brought their opposing team wine glasses! …although they both don’t cheer for the right team (go Buffalo Bills) 🙂 I try to get a photo of my couples separately so they can each have a nice “desk photo” of each other at work! Green Lakes, NY Engagement | Ben + Kerri

Ben and Kerri have one of those stories I just adore. They dated in Middle School!! They went onto High School at the same school, then separate ways for college. After college they ended up working for the same company, now that is fate! The moment they saw each other, they reconnected and knew they would spend the rest of their lives together. What an amazing story to be able to share with their kids some day. Everything about this session was light, playful, full of laughs and love.

They both share a love for the outdoors and camping, so we had a camp date! Enjoy.

And when your camping you have to play with water balloons … it was freezing just watching!

I just love when love shines out of my couples! And Ben + Kerri’s love shining was not only seen by me today, but at their engagement and I had to share this beautiful story. As I mentioned they share a love for the outdoors. They hiked 3.5 miles to the top of Buck Mountain where Ben asked a couple to take a video of him proposing. After he proposed and they enjoyed the moment the couple walked over with his phone and thanked them for letting them be a part of this. They explained how they were going through a tough patch in their marriage and thought we were a sign of GOD to stay together. This is so powerful and beautiful.

Sentimental Syracuse NY Engagement | Rob + Alyzza

As many couples are, Rob + Alyzza were nervous going into their session so we decided to start it off at Middle Ages Brewery to taste some local brew and break the ice! The entire session was amazing, filled with laughter, love, and amazing stories. I send couples a questionnaire before their engagement and one of the questions asks about any funny stories. I loved their response! Alyzza went out with her sister (who introduced them 🙂 ) to see Rob play at a bar. When he finished his set he noticed she had left and ran out to catch her to ask her out and she backed into him with her car! So we had to incorporate him playing in their session! The story of this coin is so beautiful. When Rob told me it at the session I knew I wanted to share it with y’all. It is a 1922 silver dollar that his grandfather carried for many years after his return from WW2. Sometime shortly after his Dad returned from Vietnam, he was given this coin and carried it in his pocket everyday since. When his Dad passed away from cancer in 2011, Rob began to carry the coin. In fear of loosing it Rob keeps it on a shelf in their home. On special occasions, life and family events that he knows his Dad would have been sure not to miss or offer advice on, he makes sure to have it in his pocket. This is surely a special occasion… The stone in Alyzza’s ring is out of Rob’s mothers ring and these photos were photographed on Rob’s fireman helmet. We finished off the session at Onondaga Park… The love between these two absolutely shines! I quickly learned how beautiful these two are inside and out and I am absolutely honored to be photographing one of the most defining moments in their lives!

Love at First Sight

I love hearing how couples meet and there is something so special about Chase and Tara’s story…They lived in the same building/quad in college but it wasn’t until 10 years later that they officially met. It’s amazing how two people can be put in each others lives and not even know that all those years passing each other in the halls that they were glancing at their soulmate. Then 10 years later they are put in each others lives again when Chase went into where Tara worked and they immediately hit it off and now they are becoming husband and wife this year!

Although it was -10 degrees during their engagement session it was filled with laughter, goofiness, a frostbite scare and a LOT of cuteness!

We promised Chase a drink if he braved the cold for a little bit and we had to get some shots at Al’s Wine and Whiskey Lounge! We loved this sign, but we couldn’t figure out the honest face face! But lots of laughs trying to come up with one! 🙂

Gillie Lake Engagement | Modern Day Meet-Cute

A meet-cute is the moment in a movie where a couple meets for the first time in a unique, unlikely way. We are hearing more and more every day about people meeting online and that there are times these couples find their best friend, soulmate, and partner and become husband + wife! I was so excited to hear James’s + Trisha’s story about meeting online and that they found each other in the midst of their busy lives. They are such a sweet, beautiful couple and we had so much fun trying to stay warm on this below zero winter day in Syracuse!

A Walk Downtown-Engagement Session

It was a crisp winter day in Syracuse photographing Rob + Liane’s engagement session. When I asked them what their favorite things to do together, I just loved their response! They said “everything! Literally everything is better when your with your best friend” and that showed today! Although freezing outside, fingers numbing, faces freezing, it couldn’t take away from the moments they had together; laughter, love, and silliness between these two was infectious! I cannot wait to tell the story of their wedding day!

Marrying Your Best Friend

One of my favorite parts of meeting my clients is hearing their love story. I love that every story is unique. I met Melanie and Keith this past week to photograph their engagement session for their June 2015 wedding and I adore their story. You may have heard and/or even said it yourself that you cannot wait to marry your best friend, I know I certainly married mine! What I love about their story is they have been best friends for almost 20 years! They had a childhood date on Valentines day in 1995, became best friends and 12 years later began dating as adults and this year they will become husband and wife! They are such a beautiful couple inside and out and were so much fun, I cannot wait witness and to tell their story of the day they become Husband + Wife!!

Park + Castle Engagement Session Bryan + Ashley

What a beautiful engagement session with two beautiful people in Buffalo, NY. If you read my previous post Bryan, like Sarah, and I went to school together also! It is the most amazing feeling when friends from years ago ask me to document precious moments for them. I love seeing them, learning where the last 10+ years brought them, and getting to know them all over again, since we were kids the last time I have seen them! 🙂 It was fantastic meeting Bryan’s fiancé Ashley, she is so sweet and I couldn’t be happier for him!

The love these two have for each other is infectious and they were so much fun! Thank you so much for bringing me in to document your engagement!

We had so many visitors in the dog park, so much fun! This German Shepard couldn’t get enough of Bryan and Ashley, came back numerous times! 🙂
